A twitter friend recently tweeted that he had tried and liked a competitor’s food bar. We offered him samples of Nutrilite’s Blueberry Crunch Meal Bar and Mixed Berry Smoothie Energy Bar. Someone once said that I might as well drink clean, filtered drinking water. Because one way or the other – it’s going to be filtered!

One of the best aspects of the Amway Global Spotlight in Seattle was talking with the experts involved in developing the technology for eSpring, Amway’s water filtration system.

I could try to explain how it all works but I’m sure I’d miss something. So, why not let the expert in the room, in this case, Jim from eSpring do the talking!

I was reading Robin Luymes’ blog at the Opportunity Zone about the subject of entrepreneurship a few day ago. He was describing his dad’s entrepreneurial spirit and the leap of faith necessary to realize success in his own business. This got me to thinking about a recent experience.

Linda and I had a great time in Portland, Oregon over this last weekend. The Amway Global Spotlight IBO training was held in the Portland Convention Center; we were thrilled with the classes presented, a combination of product knowledge and sales skills.

What we found quite interesting was that the classes were given in several languages. And, in fact, Linda and I seemed to be in the minority with English as our sole language.

One of the largest groups represented was the Russian community. Linda and I split up for some of our classes and at the end of the day I found myself sitting in a room of Russian business people. There were approximately 200 individuals in the room speaking Russian quite comfortably – and me (wondering if I was the ONLY one in the room who couldn’t speak Russian). This was a bit of a culture shock!

Here’s my main thought, however. Most of these folks have come to America for the opportunity to get ahead; to realize the American Dream. The common language in that room was entrepreneurship. Everyone in the room wanted the freedom of owning a business and the taste of success.

America’s greatness comes in the form of business creation, not in job mentality!

Even though I found myself rather uncomfortable from a linguistic point-of-view, I felt right at home with this group.

Here’s a big thanks to Amway Global, and the Amway Global Spotlight series. These are amazing events and I consider myself fortunate to have been “in the crowd.”

So, who was a surprise sensation at the National Spotlight? Well, none other than Chef Ed of Amway Global!

Chef Ed came to Seattle to show off the iCook product line and he did so in fine fashion. The recipe for the day was a Chicken with Mango-Papaya Chutney dish. I’ll tell you this much – if we could have tasted the finished product we’d have never gotten away from the iCook demonstration area!

Hey Ed, I think a recipe of the week from the Amway Global kitchen would be fantastic.

A highlight for us at the National Spotlight event this past weekend was meeting the SuperDu! We have conversed with Robin Luymes from Amway Global on his Opportunity Zone blog called SuperDu and also on Facebook. We sought him out as soon as we arrived, curious as to which of his pics (blog or Facebook) were closer to the real Robin.

In the video below, we also get to introduce Tom Sturgeon. How exciting to meet the Senior Brand Manager for the Nutrilite line. Lots of great stories to tell him about our experiences with AC Milan.

Linda and I just attended the most amazing event ever in our entire Amway career: Amway Global’s National Spotlight. The event, held at the Seattle Convention Center downtown, featured product demonstrations and experts direct from the company headquarters in Ada, Michigan. From the moment we walked through the front entrance of the expo (as seen in the video below), we were overwhelmed by how much Amway Global had done to invest in our success.

To give you an idea of the scope of this event, Amway Global used the third floor (which is the Exhibition Hall) just for the expo. The fourth floor was used for training and seminars. That’s a lot of real estate, folks! Did we mention this was a free event for IBOs and their guests?

We are very grateful to Amway Global for this event. There are still two left on the calendar for September: Chicago and New York. (Don’t think we’re not trying to justify a trip to the Big Apple!) We took lots of video and pictures and will be sharing them on this blog in the coming weeks. Be sure to check back!

I went down to the Kent Cornucopia Days today just so I could see the Artistry and Nutrilite MoBEs live and in person for the first time! (See our previous blog post introducing the MoBEs.)

I was hoping to get a little pampering at the Artistry luxury-spa-on-wheels and, boy, did I ever! First I met Kate who was welcoming visitors inside the spa area. She showed me a couple of the newer Artistry products which I hadn’t seen yet; I was really excited about the tinted moisturizers. We chatted about social media and the Mobile Experience Blog on the Opportunity Zone. Kate said she was going to be doing her first blog post tonight … can’t wait to see it!

Kate encouraged me to introduce myself to Luba who was outside doing makeovers and let her know that I have been reading and following her blog posts. As a matter of fact, I had just re-read Luba’s most recent post, “Did you miss me?,” this morning. I have another blog for my paralegal business and I know it’s hard to keep blogging if you don’t think people are reading your stuff. And when there are no comments it does seem like no one’s listening.
So, yes Luba, I am reading your blog and promise to comment on it so you’ll know we’re listening!

Oh, and the pampering? I had a parafin hand treatment (including hand massage), a makeover with the Artistry Essentials Makeup Kit in medium, and received a fancy bag of samples!

I did peek inside the Nutrilite MoBE, but I’m going back on Sunday with Craig to spend time there, so news about that on Sunday.

FYI, there is a new Nutrilite supplement catalog available. This is by far the best publication I’ve seen from the corporation.

Page 11 is my favorite. There is a description of each vitamin and mineral used in Double X and how the body is supported by these supplements. The information is excellent and easy to use.

As I went through each page of the catalog I noticed green headers that described the benefits of the different products. This really helped me move around the brochure quickly to find the information I needed.

All of this and the layout and colors are great, too!

Now, at 50+ I’d better get back to the catalog to see exactly what I need!

…at SoccerPalooza this weekend! Last year at the same event, it was luck of the draw that our event booth was directly across the aisle from the AC Milan booth. And it was also the case last year that our Nutrilite-sponsored athlete, soccer great Ronaldinho, was playing for Barcelona. What a difference a year makes!

Ronaldinho is now an AC Milan team member. And now Nutrilite not only sponsors Ronaldinho, but is also a sponsor of AC Milan.

The Amway Italy website announces the sponsorship. Of course, it’s all written in Italian, but there are lots of pictures — and pictures speak a thousand words in any language! Learn more about Team Nutrilite in Europe.

We can’t wait to see our AC Milan friends again. Last year, they did not know the Nutrilite name. We gave them lots of our Sports Nutrition products to take for the flight home. This year, we’re all on the same team!

So, if you come to SoccerPalooza this year, you’ll have no problem locating our booth. We’re right next to AC Milan — with the poster of Ronaldinho in a Nutrilite jersey.
